No Funeral?
I went by the funeral home recently to pay my respects to the family of a deceased brother. I had know him for years, but never knew that the man was a Mason.
I offered my condolences to the bereaved and even mentioned to the widow the nice arrangement of flowers that his Lodge had sent. She said that he was a "true" Mason and was proud to be so.
He had been sick the past couple of years and, I'm told, not very active. Apparently, this was not always the case. He was Past Master of his Lodge. I believe he was currently serving as Senior Warden.
Yet, there was no Masonic Funeral.
I don't know why. I don't have a clue. I didn't ask.
It's so sad that he will never receive his last Masonic rites. It's such a shame that we didn't get to properly say, "Goodbye."
