Coming Home to the Lodge

This post is a letter that I sent out to the brethren in my lodge. I hope it has a positive affect on them and I hope it does the same for you.

**************************************************************

Dear Brethren:

I write this letter to you today with the fervent wish that you may soon see fit to revisit us. My hope is that when you’ve read this humble letter, you may also wish to, once again, sit in the Lodge.

I know that we all are constrained by time and opportunity. We have families, churches and jobs that require our immediate attention. Many are hampered by poor personal health or that of family members. You know your own circumstances better than I and are the best judge of what you can and cannot do.

I also know that many of you are very involved in appendant bodies of our Craft. Masonry grows and blesses many souls due to your selfless work.

Still, there are those of you who have simply slid away for years and, perhaps, have lost the desire to darken our door. You might have even concluded that you are perhaps unneeded or, perish the thought, unwanted. I can most certainly speak for the brethren of Meridian Sun Lodge #50 when I say that you are both needed and wanted.

We yearn for even your occasional presence and hope you may find an opportunity for attendance twice or even once a year. Give special consideration with regard to appearing for the officer election in December. Remember, it’s your lodge too.

Reflect back to the joy you experienced in your active days when you were one of the “regulars” who helped in maintaining our Lodge and doing the work of making good men into good Masons. Perhaps the time has come to relive that joy?

There are those of you who have never had time to be involved in the way you’d like. Now, perhaps, you have time. Maybe you only lack the inclination or an invitation. Well, if you’re waiting to be invited, you just have been.

Let me add that we are proud to have all of you, active or “inactive” as part of our Fraternity. Each time you do a kindness, helping your fellow man, if they know you are a mason, it reflects positively on our brotherhood. Without you, Masonry would certainly be found sorely wanting.

It is my ardent hope that this letter, or even some other thing, will inspire some of you to join with us again. Many of you I have not sat in Lodge with during my nearly five year walk as a Freemason. It would be a proud moment for us indeed to fellowship with you at, of course, your earliest convenience.

Remember, our Stated Meetings are on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. We are also there on the other Tuesdays for practice and fellowship. I know that you will find yourself feeling both welcome and rewarded upon your return.

Sincerely and Fraternally Yours,

Worshipful Master
Meridian Sun Lodge #50 F&AM
