The Widow's Son

This blog might at least partially belong in another site of mine. I was torn where to put it, but, finally, decided the Masonic allusions constrained me to place it here.

*************************************************************************

We all know the story of Hiram, the widow's son. An artificer who designed the Temple of Solomon along with the myriad wonders that enhanced its beauty. Yes,he was fatherless, yet, indispensable to the construction of the house of God. He was one third of the triumvirate that were overseers of the temple construction in Jerusalem. Legend has it that he was murdered because he wouldn't betray the confidence placed in him by his fellow architects.

There was another widow's Son. One who built a temple not made with hands. He is the Author and Finisher of our faith. He is the Artificer of eternal salvation. He is one third of the triumvirate that oversaw the creation of this earthly realm and the heavenly one above.

He too was the Son of a widow. This we know since He was compelled by law and tradition to make preparations for His mother after His death. This He did even while breathing His last breaths on the cross. (Had His mother not been a widow, He would not have been required to do so. It would have been her husband's responsibility to see to her care.)

Many "widow's sons" walk this terrestrial ball today. Fatherless waifs who have no one to turn too...apparently. Yet, there is a Father above who never leaves a son fatherless or the widow husbandless.

There is a widow, whose Husband has gone to Heaven. She awaits His return for her. He will one day take her home to live with Him eternally. This "Bride" is the spouse of the One Who was slain from the foundation of the world. We call her the "Church."

The miracle of salvation procreates children of the Church much like a human cell dividing itself over and over. It is a miracle from our God that we are both the Church and its progeny. (That is not such a stretch when you consider that you are both a part of your parents, and yet, the offspring of the same.)

Mistakenly, many Christians await the "Wedding Supper". They seem to think that the wedding, along with the concurrent feast, is something to take place in the future. Yet, if their has been no wedding between the Bride and Groom, we are not only fatherless, we are nothing more than bastards. Bastards we are not!

Like physical children, spiritual children have two parents: mother and father. This is not by coincidence; this is by design. Our Groom has gone to Glory and the Bride, His Church, remains here, bearing the children of the Church.

Before I digress, there is an esoteric word of knowledge reserved to those who have faith in the Grand Architect of the Universe. It is reserved to those who trust and obey Him. (I'm not saying salvation by works, but that's another post.)

Those who don't know the "Word," those who don't know the "Truth," are unworthy of the wages of salvation, but are worthy of the wages of sin...death! As did the illustrious dead before us, who would not betray the secret of wages to the unworthy, He would not betray the trust placed in Him by His fellow Architects...the Godhead. He would not give the "Word" to those who were not faithful. He would not give it to those who wanted to steal it as opposed to having it given to them in God's own good time, in God's own good way.
